The stainless steel round bar 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10), also known as V2A, is an austenitic corrosion-resistant steel with a minimum of 8% nickel and 10.5% chromium. It is the most commonly used stainless steel grade and resistant to intergranular corrosion in the as-delivered condition. The round bars have a circular cross-section designated by diameter, e.g. Ø 20 mm, and originate from the EU. This material offers good toughness, resistance to brittle fracture even at low temperatures, and weldability by all common methods except gas welding. Manufacturing is mainly done by drawing to reduce cross-sections and improve surface finish. Machinability is enhanced by sulfur addition or work hardening. The material complies with EN 10088-3 and fit tolerance h9 according to ISO 286. Suitable for diverse industrial applications requiring corrosion resistance and good processability.
