Cold drawn steel round bar 1.7139 (16MnCrS5) is a case-hardening steel with excellent machinability due to sulfur addition. It offers good surface hardenability and core toughness, making it ideal for gear wheels, shafts, pins, crankshafts, camshafts, and suspension or engine components. The material is machinable prior to case hardening and provides a wear-resistant surface with a tough core after heat treatment. Weldability varies by grade; 16MnCr5 is readily weldable.
