Copper round bar CW004A

A round bar is a long product with a circular cross-section. The dimension is named according to the diameter, e.g. Ø 20 mm.

Copper

Copper is a heavy metal with a specific weight of 8.92 g/cm³ and is the metal that has been used the longest by mankind. Even today, copper is a sought-after material due to its excellent electrical conductivity. In addition to the electrical and electronics industry, copper is also used in the sanitary sector, e.g. as a pipe, due to its generally good corrosion resistance.

Material CW004A

The copper material CW004A, also known as Cu-ETP, is an oxygen-containing copper produced by electrolytic refining, which has a high electrical conductivity. This material is used when high demands are placed on electrical conductivity, e.g. in the electronics industry. The oxygen content can lead to so-called hydrogen sickness during welding, which is why joining by welding is not recommended. The designation Cu-ETP is the chemical symbol of the copper material CW004A.

Method of production and surface treatment

The term hard is used to indicate the degree of hardening of non-ferrous metals. Hard means that the material has been work-hardened to a very high degree and therefore has high mechanical properties.

R300 means that the minimum tensile strength is 300 MPa and describes the hardened state of copper materials.

Standardization: EN 13601

EN 13601: Copper and copper alloys - Copper rod and wire for general electrical purposes.
